A successful hospitality leader Takes time to, Create a vision That goes beyond, Conventional wisdom And is willing to go an extra mile. Hospitality industry is one of the fastest growing industries next to Information Technology Industry. The industry is trying to meet the needs of time constrains guests. The hospitality industry’s success does not only depend upon competent management but on leadership within the management ranks. “Leadership is like beauty Is in the eye of the beholder” It is the attitude, ability, action that makes you a star in a hotel. The modern day leaders all over the world have taken their places in guiding the thoughts and efforts of the people to the achievement of the common goals. The objectives may not be very far reaching and actions of the leaders may not be dramatic, but the successful performance of leadership role is essential to the survival of the business enterprise. In the description of the organizations no word is more often used than leadership and perhaps no word is used with such varied meanings. Leadership is a trait like any other quality. One of the basis tenets of leadership is that you must be recognized as a leader by people around you. Your ability to enhance and develop that quality depends upon you will to do so. Leaders must always be enthusiastic and must have a positive attitude. This very attitude sets the trend for your subordinates and success looks upon you. The worst hindrance to accomplishment is beginning the task. If you want to be a leader starting or action is best expressed as “starting is winning half the battle”. As a leader you don’t have to be an expert in everything, but competent in all areas you supervise. If you lack the ability in an area you should work hard to enhance it. These qualities of leadership makes more all around developed personality in a person rightly suited for the hospitality industry.
